Doug Sahm Sir Douglas Quintet HIM 4 A.M. rare 45 record EURO 60
1966. Tear Drop Records 3074. Record is in NM- condition with one small surface mark on Side 1 that is inaudible. Labels are clean. This is a rare record released in 1966 on Tear Drop Records, a Division of Crazy Cajun Enterprises, owned by Huey P. Meaux. Huey also owned Tribe Records on which he had been releasing Doug Sahm's band The Sir Douglas Quintet's 45's from 1964 thru 1966. Apparently Huey released this Sir Douglas Quintet single on his Teardrop label, under the pseudonym "HIM", in an attempt to revive the group's career, since their last three singles on Tribe Records had failed to chart. Huey tried again later in 1966 when he released "Wine, Wine, Wine" on his Pic One label using the pseudonym "Devons" instead of SDQ. Both singles failed to chart and are extremely rare. The A Side is a smoking blues rocker that was later covered by
The Allman Brothers on their "Eat a Peach" album, retitled "One Way Out". The B Side is a smoking blues instrumental that has never appeared on LP or CD. This 45 is the only place it's available. If this record doesn't sell for my minimum bid it will not be relisted. I'll frame it and put it on my wall. Songs include; It's a Man Down There/4 A.M. A great blues rock record

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL UNITED KINGDOM FIRST-PRESSING, WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO FIND IN ANY CONDITION, BUT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO UNEARTH IN THIS KIND OF SHAPE. MEAN, LEAN WITHOUT AN OUNCE OF FAT! PLEASE NOTE: BOTH THE SLEEVE AND VINYL ARE IN GREAT SHAPE.
